Lucy was just 4 years old when she became transfixed by the harp during a performance at the ballet. As fate would have it, her Grandfather repaired and restored harps, and crafted her very first instrument, a gift that set everything in motion.
Many years on and Lucy enjoys the variety of a successful professional freelance career, with performances ranging from intimate Chamber recitals, Opera, Ballet and Musical seasons, to Classical Symphony Orchestra and Stadium Rock concerts.
The mainstay of Lucy’s performing life has been as a freelance Orchestral Harpist, working as Guest Principal and section Harpist for all the major Orchestras throughout Australia since 2000.
Cherished career highlights have included several tours with the Australian Chamber Orchestra; national tours with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra; “Ashkenazy Conducts” with the Tasmanian Symphony and memorable showcase concerts with Andrea Bocelli and the Queensland Symphony.
Other highlights have included performances with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra as well as numerous concerts, opera and ballet seasons with QSO, TSO, ASO, WASO, MSO, AOBO and Camerata - QLD’s Chamber Orchestra.
Lucy has also enjoyed many Brisbane seasons in the pit playing alongside Opera Australia for musicals (South Pacific, The King and I, My Fair Lady), and for visiting International companies including the Hamburg Philharmonic, Bolshoi Ballet, Royal Ballet and
Paris Opera Ballet.
As a harpist for special occasions, Lucy has performed at St James’ Palace for HRH Princess Anne, in Cathedrals across the English countryside and for spaces in Harrods, Claridges and the Park Lane Hilton and Mayfair hotels in London. Closer to home, elegant venues including the Stamford Plaza, Brisbane and the former Palazzo Versace on the Gold Coast. Lucy also holds a 20+ year Christmas residency at one of Brisbanes most prestigious CBD addresses, The Riparian Plaza.
U.K. born and trained, Lucy gained her Bachelor of Music Honours as a Foundation Scholar at the Royal College of Music, London, where she also won the United Kingdom Harp Association Prize. Lucy relocated to Australia in 2000 and, as a Merit Scholar, went on to attain a Master of Music Studies with High Distinction from the QLD Conservatorium of Music.
